Friday 29th April was not just an impromptu bank holiday in the UK (thank you very much!), but also marked the biggest and most watched wedding in recent history…the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton.
The wedding was a true fairy tale, with the ceremony taking place at the magnificent Westminster Abbey, while the reception was of course held at Buckingham Palace.
Kate Middleton married her Prince after meeting him at St Andrews University, in Scotland a decade ago in 2001. The royal engagement was announced in November 2010, with Kate having been presented with William’s mother, the ever memorable Princess Diana’s, dazzling oval blue 18-carat sapphire and diamond engagement ring.
After much speculation, we saw Kate, wearing a spectacular gown designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen.
It was an ivory, long sleeved creation made out of French Chantilly lace, with a sweetheart neckline and a full skirt cinched at the waist.
Her Prince Charming wore a scarlet military uniform to signify his honorary rank of Colonel of the Irish Guards. On his chest, he wore his Garter sash and star, Royal Air Force “wings” and Golden Jubilee medal. His military ensemble was commissioned to Taylor Gieves and Hawkes.
Kate kept it simple and only had one adult bridesmaid, her sister Pippa, who also looked stunning in a slinky white cowl-neck dress, also by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen.
We wish the newly wedded Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, a long and happy marriage and we at BoC can’t wait for Harry’s wedding, not only because of the public holiday that we will hopefully get, but of course to see what the lucky lady, perhaps Chelsy Davy, will wear!
