I met Yinka on the 26th of December 2009, at a friend’s birthday party in Lagos. I went to Lagos from Abuja for the Christmas holiday season and was invited to party, where Yinka, who also happened to be a friend of the celebrant attended too. Little did I know what God had in store for me…….
To be truthful, before Yinka approached or even spoke to me…..I had spotted him on the dance floor (don’t get it twisted, I was only admiring his dance steps *wink*). I must confess that he was a very good dancer. He suddenly walked over to where I was sitting and asked me to dance. I stood up immediately and he lead me to the dance floor. While showing off his dancing skills we started chatting and suddenly he asked me for my mobile number. I told him to relax and that this was not the time or place!
We continued to dance for hours and towards the end of the party, he asked me for my mobile number again and I relented and decided to give it to him. Yinka actually called me later that evening and spoke throughout the evening for over three hours, in spite of the terrible mobile connection we had. After that night, we met up several times before I headed back home to Abuja.
And that was how the love affair started…..I went back to Abuja and it became more of a long distance relationship, which wasn’t as easy as I imagined it to be. We visited each other as frequently as we could, and continued to do so until Yinka and I finally took the bold step pf committing our intentions into the hands of God…We made the commitment to share our lives together as one and now, We are husband and wife. To God be the glory!!!
On the 3rd & 4th of February 2012, Wumi and Yinka exchanged their heartfelt vows at the Cathedral Church of St. Stephen Oke Aluko Ondo State Nigeria.
