Many people over the few years we have been together have asked us how we met. We always seem to look at each other and smile, feeling as though we’ve known each other our whole life. For as much as fate plays a role in one’s life, it was fate that brought us together that one fine Night out with the girls!
That night, the romance gods were smiling down on me when I met this fine Naija man called Semy. It all started when my friend from Leeds wanted to come and celebrate her birthday in London. One of my friends told about his friend who organised events and managed to get us on the guest list. On arriving at the club, the first person we met was Semy, who was very pleasant and made sure that we were looked after that night. We had a wicked night out. Semy and I didn’t really speak that night as we were both busy enjoying our single lives!
A few months later, it was going to be my birthday and as you do I began to search for a venue where I wanted to go. And guess what, he hosted my birthday and we began to talk from there on. Few months later the plot began to thicken and we found out that we had so much in common and enjoyed each other’s company. Within a couple of months, our friendship was strengthening and we wanted to be with each most of the time.
To cut the story short, we both had strong feelings for each other and we wanted to be together all the time. Therefore we decided to move in together. Everything happened so quickly but felt so right. Semy is not only caring; he is also a very passionate person who made me feel very loved and still does. He wasn’t shy about expressing his feelings to me and this meant a lot. On Christmas Day 2008, In front of both our families, he proposed! Pheeeww…and I said Yes! We were both overjoyed and so was both our families, the question was then, when was the big day!
We set the wedding date as 11th Sept 2010, because we knew that for the amount of people that we anticipated to attend the wedding, we needed to give ourselves enough time to plan and cater for everything.
Our wedding was a success with over 1000 guests that came to celebrate with us.
